Aimee Cruz and Author of Novel Manflu, Simone de Muñoz, Discuss her New Book Where Women Step Up
Topics
- Aimee talks to Simone about her debut novel, Manflu. Manflu is about a world after a pandemic which killed or weakened men. Simone was in the process of writing this book before COVID and was published in March 2021. The book is a thriller and steamy in parts but has larger themes for what we as a society may (or may not) want to do as we head into our future for change. Simone de Muñoz writes dystopian, or perhaps utopian, fiction, depending on your perspective, where women drive the story and sometimes even run the world. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in economics from MIT, which she uses in her day job in nonprofit management. Based in Silicon Valley, she lives with her patient husband, their charming sons ages 7 and 10, and a grumpy dog named Fish
